Organizations and Teams
Create organizations, invite members, and manage roles.
Overview
Organizations are workspaces that group documents, members, and settings. Every user gets a personal workspace on signup, but you can create additional organizations for teams, departments, or clients.
Creating an Organization
- Open the organization switcher in the header
- Click Create Organization
- Enter a name
- You're automatically set as the owner
Inviting Members
- Go to Settings for your organization
- Enter the email address of the person you want to invite
- Choose a role (member or custom role)
- They'll receive an invitation they can accept from their account
Invitation Status
Invitations appear in the recipient's Invitations page. They can accept or ignore them. You can cancel pending invitations from the Settings page.
Roles and Permissions
Built-in Roles
- Owner -- full access to everything, cannot be removed
- Administrator -- manage members, roles, and organization settings
- Member -- default role, can upload and view documents
Custom Roles
Create custom roles to fine-tune permissions:
- Go to Settings > Roles
- Click Create Role
- Set a name, color, and permission level
- Assign the role to members
Available permissions include:
- View documents
- Upload documents
- Delete documents
- Share documents (cross-org)
- Run compliance checks
- Manage members
- Manage roles
Assigning Roles
A member can have multiple custom roles. Permissions are additive -- if any assigned role grants a permission, the member has it.
Switching Organizations
Use the organization switcher dropdown in the header. All views (dashboard, documents, analytics) update to reflect the selected organization.
Organization Settings
From the Settings page you can:
- Rename the organization
- View and manage members
- Create and manage custom roles
- View the audit log (all actions taken by members)
- Manage invitations
Audit Log
Every action in an organization is logged:
- Document uploads, deletions, and shares
- Compliance checks run
- Member additions and role changes
- Settings changes
Filter the audit log by action type, actor, or date range.
