Uploading Documents
How to upload PDFs, web pages, and other content for accessibility scanning.
Supported File Types
Adaline supports accessibility scanning for:
- PDF documents -- The most common format for accessibility audits
- Web pages -- Enter a URL to scan any publicly accessible web page
- Microsoft Office documents -- Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), Excel (.xlsx)
Uploading a PDF
- Click New Scan from your dashboard
- Select Upload PDF and choose your file, or drag and drop it into the upload area
- Add an optional label to help you identify the document later
- Click Start Scan
File Size Limits
- Maximum file size: 50 MB per document
- Maximum page count: 500 pages per document
- For larger documents, consider splitting them into sections
Scanning a Web Page
- Click New Scan from your dashboard
- Select Web Page
- Enter the full URL (including
https://) - Click Start Scan
Adaline will load the page in a headless browser, render all dynamic content, and analyze the final DOM for accessibility issues.
Batch Uploads
For scanning multiple documents at once:
- Navigate to Scans in the sidebar
- Click Batch Upload
- Select multiple files or drag and drop a folder
- All documents will be queued and processed in order
You'll receive a notification when each scan completes.
Scan Status
Each scan goes through these stages:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Queued | Waiting to be processed |
| Processing | Currently being analyzed |
| Complete | Report is ready to view |
| Failed | An error occurred during scanning |
If a scan fails, check that the file is not corrupted or password-protected. You can retry failed scans from the scan details page.
Tips for Better Results
- Use the original document -- Scanned images of printed documents won't produce useful results. Upload the source digital file when possible.
- Ensure PDFs are not image-only -- If your PDF is just a scanned image, Adaline can only check limited structural elements.
- Check that web pages are publicly accessible -- Adaline cannot scan pages behind authentication walls.
